Q & A
This list can get a little lengthy, but many of your questions can be answered here. Contact me if you'd like to talk details even more.
Engagement/Bridal Portraits
-Location: Extensive thought goes into creating your shoot. If you don’t have any ideas of what to do or where to go, don’t worry! I plan out a new, unique shoot for every session. BUT if you do have ideas, locations, or things you specifically want, by all means let me know! I LOVE incorporating anything that you like: painting, riding a vespa, making hot fudge sundaes, vintage style, your alma matter, playing in the sprinklers, dancing, getting coffee, etc. Your ideas make the photos so much more personal and fun!
-What to wear/bring: Three outfits are ideal. Couples—feel free to coordinate your outfit styles, but this doesn’t mean you need to dress alike! Your photos will turn out more fresh and modern if you are NOT dressed alike! Try to wear clothes that reflect your day-to-day personality. Interesting details (such as colorful heels, a flower in your hair, contrasting jewelry, or a fun tie) make for great photos! “Props” (like your guitar, dog, favorite chair, or bicycle) are highly encouraged!
-Changing Clothes: Depending on what you are comfortable with, you can change clothes in your car, or we can stop by a local store nearby.
-Viewing & Digital Negatives: A sneak peek will be posted on my blog within one week. All your portrait photos will be ready about two weeks after our session.
-How Many Photos: You will receive anywhere from 90-125 photos from a portrait session. If you're opting for a mini-bridal session, you will receive about 30 photos.
-Payment: No deposits are required to book a session, however, payment in full is due at the session. Please bring a check/money order/ cash with you, or mail it in beforehand. Make it out to Fernanda M. Garcia.
-Bridal Portraits: Feel free to bring your mom or a good friend with you to assist with your dress, veil, bouquet, etc. This helps the session flow smoothly. Also, it is a good idea to bring a white sheet with you to tuck under your dress. Keep in mind, bridal sessions are usually outdoors; most brides take their dress to be cleaned after their bridal sessions.
Wedding Day
-Viewing: All of your wedding day photos will be ready approximately one month after your wedding.
-Deposits & Payment: A $500 deposit is required to reserve your date. The rest of your balance is due one month before your wedding. Make sure to pay on time, because failure to do so will result in a late fee.
-Albums: You're going to love our new albums! Their gorgeous leather covers and thick pages mean these books are built to last. It's your own heirloom. I personally design each album myself. Your album will be ready 7 to 12 months after your wedding.
-How Many Photos: Depending on the size and time allotted for your wedding photographs, you will receive anywhere from 400-800 photos.
-Pricing: Pricing is subject to change, but once you book and have paid your deposit, your price is locked in and will not change.
Q: Does a print release come with the digital negatives from my session?
A: Yes. With the print release, you can print your photos wherever, whenever.
Q: Where can I see more photos and keep up with you?
A: My website, myspace or facebook!
Q: Do you travel?
A: I love to travel! Travel fees vary depending on your location and usually include gas or flight and hotel stay. I also offer a few free destination weddings a year! Contact me for more information.
Q: Do you edit all your photos?
A: Yes. Every single last photo is retouched, with extra-special editing for my favorites.
Q: How long do portrait sessions last?
A: Plan on spending about two and a half hours for an engagement session. We're usually having so much fun that we don't want to stop! Bridal sessions and family sessions last about an hour and a half to two hours.

-Albums: You'll love our new albums! When I shoot a wedding, I’m already visualizing how I want each image to convey the experience in the album design. When you look at your wedding album, I want you to be caught up in the whole experience again, not just see what you wore. Candid wedding photographs might not be the ones you hang over your fireplace, but when placed in an album, those come-and-go details flow beautifully to recreate the emotion of your day.
-Gallery Wrapped Canvas: In the digital photo age, it’s a common tale to find photos left on a CD or computer, unseen and unappreciated. I want to help you get those photos into the light! Displaying a print in an elegant frame is a typical way to make a statement, but your photos can make a greater impact when displayed in creative ways, such as stretched over canvas or grouped in a modern art collection. A gallery wrapped canvas will help you truly enjoy your investment each time you walk through your home.
-Before the Ceremony: This may be a non-traditional thought for brides and grooms, but opting to see each other before the wedding ceremony is such a good idea! Let me explain why you might want to consider this. The pros:
* there is 100% less stress on everyone involved in the wedding
* the first time you see each other is in a calm, sweet, private environment where you don’t have the pressure of being in front of hundreds of people…you get a chance to say things and express private emotions the way you wouldn’t if you were at the alter.
* the photos of the two of you together on your wedding day are the most important; you want them to be incredible! After the wedding, natural light is almost gone, and there isn’t much time to capture creative shots, since you don’t want to leave your guests waiting at the reception; this limits the creative photos I can capture of the two of you together. Seeing each other before the wedding gives you the opportunity to take stellar, artistic photographs together with fabulous natural lighting and no time crunches.
* ALL of the photos (including with family) can be taken before the wedding…after we take that last photo before the ceremony, you don’t have to worry about photos anymore! Just relax and enjoy the rest of your day.
You most certainly have the choice to wait and see each other at the alter, I’ve just found that this is a wonderful way for everyone to enjoy the day more. Contact me if you have any questions or want to know how it works!
